You Must Fuel Up And Rest!
Stupid – I know! I was busy all day and when I had some free time I decided to try a new, quick, workout. It sounded great at the time… but quick workouts usually included an Extremely High Level of Intensity. This one in particular is called “The Magic 50.”
Look it up. At first it looks like nothing, but then you do it and see otherwise.
Anyway, I did the workout and felt great at first, but then my energy level depleted rapidly. I couldn’t do the “Magic 50,” I ended up doing the “Magic 30.” 😛 And I was D-U-N, Done!
Here comes the good part… I did proper warm up and cool down, but after that I felt a little weird. I didn’t think much of it at the time.
About an hour later, after my post-workout drink, my wife had to leave to run some errands. That left me with my 7 year old and 5 month old daughters. No problem, right?! That is, until my body started to quiver and muscle spasm uncontrollably. Now I’m sarcastically thinking “Awesome! This is just Awesome!”
I could barely hold my daughter, my lower back and stomach muscles were shaking – to the point where I could barely stand erect. (Not very good if you are standing and holding a 5 month old.)
So there I am, standing in my kitchen, trying to get a bottle ready, and my 5 month old is looking up at me as if she’s saying “What the heck are you doing Daddy? Can you please not drop me?!”
Long story short, I finally ate some food (simple and complex carbs if you were wondering) and was able to sit down. I finally felt normal in about 1-2 hours.
So the moral is – You must Eat and Rest, especially if you are working out!
Oh yeah… and don’t push it too hard when you haven’t eaten all day. You might shake uncontrollably and that’s just embarrasing if you are out in public! 🙂
Cheers,
Don
